An Accessory Definition Page For Common Terms

Below are some of the terms we have found that can be classified for the LapDawg, however each term represents a slightly different variation of the same theme. Currently there is no term or word that can accurately describe the LapDawg™ as it is a unique product, however the term we like to use is a straddle desk which is a new and more accurate description of our design.

Laptop Desk

"A term to describe a niche type of desk that is designed explicitly to hold laptops on a large surface with drawers & shelves intended as a workstation with accessories such as chairs & extended keyboard trays."

Laptop Stand

"A definition that caters to two types of laptop accessory.

1. An accessory designed to hold laptops on an angle, similar to a desktop monitor on a table or desk, transforming the laptop as an acting desktop computer.
2. As an accessory that independently holds a laptop computer on a stand or pole making it either a portable laptop table or static table depending on the design. Some versions are designed solely as a vehicle laptop stand like you would find in a police car."

Laptop Tray

"A Laptop tray is a modern variation of the lap desk, however it's intended purpose is to hold modern portable computers on a small flat surface area horizontally,using a person's lap as support."

Straddle Desk

"A small, portable angled table or tray that is independently suspended by 2 legs and 2 feet, adjustable by joints, and is used by "straddling" the user's body. Used as a multi-functional table to hold educational materials or a portable computer at optimal viewing angles."

Laptop Table

"This modern definition is a more general term of a laptop tray, however the difference being is it's implied larger surface acting more as a desk than a portable accessory "

Portable Desk

"A Portable Desk is small flat surface platform supported by a person's lap with or without drawers, found in sloped or non-sloped versions mainly used as a writing slope in the 19th century."
